For the first time since Max was born, we took a short break from baby blogging. To make up for the time off, we decided to drive all over the place, take him to a gym, search for a day care, and create an improbable list of tasks to be completed during what was supposed to be a nice, relaxing vacation.

It all started innocently enough. We were just hanging around the house having fun.

Hola, el Capitan.

Quick, close the blinds, or they’ll see us!

Max, walk towards the li…no, don’t touch them…don’t touch!

Then, of course, the big day came.

All for me?

No.

We traveled to the great northern plains of Texas to visit Mimi and Papaw.

Hooray for presents!

All that stuff is cool, but did you know they have remotes here?

Smiling is fun, ears are funner.

Obligatory.

Then, after Tanner took some time to search the skies…

Santa?

…we headed home, only to wake up the next morning and drive to the Southlands for a very Larkin Christmas.

Someone finally likes the animatronic dancing Santa.

Nan was right…things did get a little crazy.

Kyle didn’t seem to mind, though.

Well, maybe a little.

Let’s see, what else happened.

Max met a new friend.

Charlie, or as Max would say, “DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG DOG!”

Emma got a new chair.

What is this “sitting” that you speak of?

Emma and Max played a lot.

Gimmie a banana or the baby gets it!

Max and T Barrett played a little.

It only took 700 shots, but I think I got one good one.

Then, exhausted, we finally headed home.

Two presents in one photo? Score.

He will dance to the music, but he will not ride the horsie. No, sir. A man has to have his dignity.

And today, now that we’re back at work, we all kind of feel like this.

Baby’s first shiner. Had to happen eventually.

This is but a small cross section of the events over the last few weeks. I’ll have to make a note to put some further updates in there next time, for now I think I’ll go slip into a much needed but brief coma.

More photos here (pre-Christmas) and here (Christmas). See you next time!
