This week Owen started his first day of kindergarten and Max started his first day of second grade. It was a momentous occasion in the Larkin household, which made it pretty rough on Christy given that she wasn’t able to attend.
When she woke up that morning she had a 103° fever and had been diagnosed with strep throat the day before. She’s been looking forward to this for years and was absolutely devastated that she couldn’t be there. I did what I could for her, though, by allowing her to attend virtually through my phone. Not ideal, to be certain, but it’s the best we could do given the circumstances. We’ll begin with the traditional photos and throwbacks.
I don’t have any photos of them walking to school because without Christy along for the ride they were right next to me. I did get some more obligatory shots though.
We took Max down to his class first, but somehow I managed to miss getting a photo of Owen in his classroom.
The week went well, though Owen had a little trouble adjusting to the more structured environment of school. He’s excited to show off his reading abilities and make some new friends, though, so it’ll all work out in the end.
With the weekend came a reason to celebrate: Mimi’s birthday! We loaded the kids into the car and headed up to Sherman and…well, so far as I can tell I mostly forgot to take photos. The kids have a tendency to run off and do their own thing these days and we’re often so happy for the break that we forget these things. I did get a quick shot of the birthday girl and some of her grandkids, though.
Christy is thankfully feeling much better now and we’re back into the swing of things. It’s a good thing, too, because we’re headed down to visit Nan and Papa next week! If you want to see the rest of the photos from the album, you can click here. Otherwise we’ll see you next time!
