The Day of the Moms

< | >

We’re almost done with the old house. Just a few more days and we’ll be closing out that chapter of our life. This means that the last week was spent touching up paint, cleaning out a garage, and just generally finalizing everything. The week also led into a big family gathering at the new house, which meant even more cleaning.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, sorry about not posting videos last week. I’ll drop some at the end of this post to complete my apology.

We had all that to prepare for, but that didn’t keep us from finding a little time to have fun with the boys. Our new route home from school takes us past a bowling alley, and a few weeks ago Max started asking what it was. This quickly turned into a daily request to “go to the bowling alley”. Who are we to refuse?

I didn’t even know these things existed. Max seemed to like it.

He much preferred this, though.

So far as I recall, he did better than I did.

Owen didn’t know what to think. He only lasted one game before letting us know that it was time to go.

Max, on the other hand, only made it through about half of the game before he decided he was done with it. I guess we’ll have to wait until his attention span gets a little longer before we try again.

Last week was also teacher week, so we went by our local hobby shop to find some small gifts for Max to give. We passed by these things on the way through, and he very quietly and reasonably asked us for one. Yes. That’s what happened. Exactly like that.

They were cheap. No biggie.

This was when he decided to try and hit me with the stick.

And this was when he paused briefly to examine some bugs.

And this was when he decided to try and shut me out of the backyard…

…with limited success.

After he did manage to close the gate, he immediately ran back over to the patio. When I rounded the corner, this is what he was doing.

He improvised a little more fun when he happened upon our phone headset.

He explained to us that he was having a meeting.

Which brings us to the big day. We had most of the Sherman family out for a nice Mother’s Day lunch. Sadly the weather didn’t permit us to have the picnic we’d planned, but we managed to have some fun anyway.

Mmmmm, mustard and cheese.

DSC_0286.JPG

Mmmmmm, stickers.

DSC_0291.JPG

For some reason no one can resist tickling this boy.

See?

DSC_0309.JPG

He may be laying low this week, but he’s still here. Promise.

DSC_0322.JPG

He’s working hard on his cute faces.

He’s also working on charming the ladies. Witness his powers.

Step 1: Get kisses.

DSC_0339.JPG

Step 2: Play it cool.

DSC_0340.JPG

Step 3: Sly bragging.

These two are going to be a handful. But wait, there’s more! Mimi and Pappaw showed up with a little surprise for the big guy.

DSC_0345.JPG

Uh oh. To the lake, now!

DSC_0354.JPG

Jayden caught most of the fish.

DSC_0359.JPG

Max insisted that he touch them all.

DSC_0381.JPG

Same with the bait. Mmmmm, worms.

Sheesh. Been a fuller week than I realized. If you want to see the rest of the photos (surprisingly enough, there’s more), click here.

And now, some of those videos I promised last week.

Fighting

Amazing what they do with video games these days.

There’s a few more in the backlog. We’ll get to them when we get to them. Have a good weekend, everyone!
