Sweets Week

< | >

In the wake of wedding weekend, we apparently decided to just go nuts and spend a lot of time indulging our sweet teeth. Part of this had to do with an annual tradition involving free ice cream, but I have a feeling the rest was just making an excuse to splurge a little after a crazy weekend.

I typically try not to name check companies on our blog because it’s not a commercial enterprise. I’m sure you’ll be able to figure this one out, though. Every year they take a day out of their busy schedule and just give away free scoops of ice cream all day long.

It rhymes with Shmen and Shmerry’s. This was the best picture I could get.

I blame Christy, as I didn’t even know it was going on until she told me about it. Once I knew, we were like moths to the flame.

On Friday we decided to hit the streets once again to get something we haven’t had since last summer.

Mmmmmm. Snoballs.

Ahhh, the taste of summer. We eased into the weekend with more of the latter half of Owen’s soccer season.

He’s still very good at his fundamentals, but not quite aggressive enough to push for the goal.

Last year he rounded out the season with a three goal stretch, but this year he’s playing it a lot cooler. Plenty of defense and decent kicks, but he lets his more aggressive teammates press for the goal. Later that afternoon, we headed out for what’s turning into another annual tradition for us. Every year near the old main street, a bunch of food trucks gather around for the afternoon. We thought it might be fun to take the boys out there again and enjoy some crazy tacos and burgers and cajun food and what not.

They also have some games set up for the kids to play.

Football is serious business for Max.

To round out the week, we decided to make one last stop before we left the area. After all, you can’t have a meal without a little dessert.

There was an ice cream truck, you see…

It was quite the sweet week. The perfect introduction to next week, I’d say, what with the giant bunny showering candy all over the place. If you want to check out the rest of the photos, feel free to click here. Otherwise we’ll see you next time!
