Pool Time, Ice Cream, and Sherman

< | >

This was a much less crazy week than the last one, which was a nice return to form for us. There were no more school activities or classes or practices or games to keep up with, so we finally had a chance to relax and go with the flow.

On Monday, that meant going to the pool. Christy bought me a GoPro a while back, but we don’t really do any skydiving or extreme sports.

That means it’s mostly used for silliness like this.

Max sometimes manages to time his photos pretty decently, which means we get things like this:

Before I threw the football to him…

…and after.

His brother decided to get in on the fun too.

Saturday brought with it an opportunity to enjoy a little time outdoors. Christy had heard about a homemade ice cream contest taking place a little ways away, so we decided to go check it out.

Max was more willing than Owen to try out some interesting flavors.

We wound up buying him something we knew he’d like at a nearby food truck.

We hung around a bit longer and bought a couple of necklaces for the boys before heading out of town. We had plans for the afternoon that would take us in a northward direction.

To Sherman!

I can’t remember what it was called, but they were playing with some sort of sticky sand that you could sculpt into shapes.

Owen made some kind of crazy face.

We also went outside for a little bit to look around in Mimi’s backyard. Apparently she’s been having a bit of a problem with frogs getting into her pool.

Which of course means that there are frogs everywhere for the boys to pick up.

We had all sorts of fun hanging out, then headed back home to prepare for a day of rest on Sunday.

And by “day of rest”, I of course mean “day of yard work”.

Max is finally old enough to use the push mower, so we put him right to work.

Owen’s not quite old enough to mow, so we put him on clean-up duty.

I was taking photos, but I promise I wasn’t sipping a glass of lemonade while watching them work. Maybe next time.

There are a few more photos from the week that you can see by clicking here.

See you next time!
